Windows 10 Extended Security Updates (ESU)
The EOL (End Of Life) of Windows 10 is approaching on October 14. I have been working hard to get to everyone and update or replace your Windows 10 machines but I knew the task was a big one. Thankfully Microsoft are now offering an additional year of support for those that enrol in the Windows 10 ESU Program. To enrol you need to have a Microsoft Account to sign in with. This account will allow you ten devices into the program.
If you don’t have an account you can head over to outlook.com and sign up for a free email that will give you that account. Then follow the process below to enrol your Windows 10 PCs into the ESU program and this will cover you until we have a chance to address your machines.
If you have any questions please feel free to call or text me on 029 874 5649
THE PROCESS
Confirm prerequisites (quick check)
PC is on Windows 10, version 22H2 with the latest updates installed.
Open the enrollment
Go to Settings → Update & Security → Windows Update.
Click Enroll now.
Sign in if asked
If you normally use a local account, Windows will prompt you to sign in with your Microsoft account to tie the ESU to it.
Pick your enrollment option
There have been a few enrollment options till now, but in theory if you are signed in with your Microsoft Account the first one should be the only one showing. At no additional cost , or
Redeem 1,000 Microsoft Rewards points, or
One-time purchase of US$30 (or local equivalent + tax).
All three give updates through October 13, 2026.
Finish the wizard
Let the wizard complete. You’ll see confirmation that the device is enrolled.
You can always return to Windows Update later to view ESU status.
(Optional) Add your other PCs—up to 10 total
On each additional Windows 10 22H2 PC, go to Settings → Windows Update → Enroll now → Add device and sign in with the same Microsoft account you used for the first PC. (One ESU license tied to your account can cover up to 10 devices.) If you have more than that to do please contact Paul
Verify updates will arrive
After Windows 10’s end of support (October 14, 2025), your critical/important security updates will come via Windows Update as usual. You can check enrollment status any time under Windows Update.
